LEVEE CONTEMPORARY presents Lauren Paradise, an exhibition featuring forty new paintings by Montello-based artist Lauren Paradise. Opening Reception is Saturday September 2nd, 2:00 - 5:00 pm.

Lauren A. Paradise was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Rome, Italy. In 1971, she attended Saint Martin’s School in London, England. In 1972 she attended Urbino State School of Art in Urbino, Italy, and in 1973 she attended the deCordova Museum School in Lincoln, MA.

From the artist:

I have been drawing since I was little/ I took art classes in school and after school. My mother took me to museums and galleries all over the world. My mother also painted and collected art and had many artist friends.

I studied foundation art courses and printmaking at art schools. Once I started painting I knew that was my medium.

I like to mix my paints, come up with unusual colors and as many shades of green as I can find. First I make sketches in notebooks, write in possible colors, and paint from those.

I paint figures, interiors, still lifes, gardens… dogs and cats appear. I paint people I would like to meet and places I would like to see and rooms I would live in. All of my images are from my imagination. I live to paint.
